So. I have a young starter reef. 35lbs of KP live rock, some corals, a fish, and the pistol shrimp or two that came along for the ride.

this is really just a temporary setup to keep the biodiversity alive until my 120 is set up and ready for transfer.

so. I’m starting to see some algae grown and detritus buildup. Judging by the rate of the accumulation of both with my WC every 2 weeks, I could probably do with a few snails. Tank is BB.

so my question is, how worried should I be about a handful of snails bringing in something that would whipeout my fish

If the snails come from a fish free tank (for last couple of months) you should be ok. If they do not, then they can be carriers.

Hm. Okay. That’s kinda what I was thinking. I have two LFSs within an hour and a half nearby. One doesn’t separate their CUC. The further one does. So I’ll run down their in the next week.

thanks!
