Curious about VOCs info

Does anybody have any resources for dissolved VOC’s in seawater or home aquaria? Last couple times I tried to search (not just for this topic) within the app I get like one or two posts, and then vendor posts for some reason.

Oil burner exhaust backed up into basement this morning (shared w tank) so that’s fun. Already had a WC on for today and will run Carbon but I’m curious about the topic now.

Pre-cursory internet search gives me tons of VOC production from reefs but I’m looking for influx of VOC to reefs. Outsourcing while I organize the unfinished side of our basement from the yard sale we never had in order to better access boiler.

I’m not sure what sorts of info you are looking for. The water will take in some, but VOC is general is too broad to be useful. Carbon will work great on organics from an oil burner smell.

I doubt it’s a big deal. The pH may have dropped a lot from CO2.

Thanks, i did throw a little carbon in and did a 1/5 water change. This is the least academic read that triggered my fear; not saying it’s right or wrong (it’s merely a 3 min read).

I have glass lids that cover more than 3/4 of the top; I haven’t trimmed out space for equipment I had in the way. The main culprit for fear mongering was induced from the slight layer of soot I found settled in the room with boiler. And I think I find it in the tank room, where it was exhausted in to as well.
