Hey everyone, I have a 30 gallon reef tank which currently is home to lawnmower blenny (which i intend to move to my larger 120 gal once it’s bigger) and a pair of springer damsels.

I intend to make this a “semi / -aggressive” reef tank, so i wanted to add a six line wrasse, and a neon dottyback. Curious on options!

total stocking would be:
Lawnmower blenny
2 Springer damsels
six line wrasse
neon dottyback

Well, you've got three (Damsels, Dottyback and SLW) that are going to be quite territorial. Seems like you have this kind of interaction in mind though. And 30g is a small tank. I'm not sure why you would want this. Perhaps I'm misreading your post. If it were me, I'd avoid these kinds of complications. A calm tank is a happy tank. And happy fish don't succumb to disease as easily as stressed out fish......

That’s fair and I understand that!

To be perfectly honest I’m sick of clowns, / never had luck with them and I’m struggling to find many other “center piece” fish for this size tank.

Totally agree that all 3 are territorial, but in my head and it’s worked for me in the past having a majority of the tank semi-agressive / able to defend themselves it ends up being pretty calm and relax as they all leave each other be.

Obviously all depends on each individual fish.

If not, do you have any other recommendations considering what’s already in there?

Personally I would go for a less aggressive stock list. That tank with the fish you listed is going to be a “war zone” of fighting for territory. Why not get blennies, gammas, firefish, or goby’s? Those are all fish that aren’t aggressive and would be good peaceful fish in your tank!

You cant really have a “aggressive” small tank. The space just doesnt allow for true aggression to play out the way it would in a larger environment.

fair enough - think i’ll go pink streaked + something else instead then!
