Many people today lack patience, in this Hobby you really need to be patient.

Some see a beautiful tank and want the same but they want it Now.
Many do not realize the time that it takes to let things progress naturally.

Or how much hard work it takes, with patience, to get it!

I know when your new at this hobby and you do something wrong, especially when your part of a forum or a facebook page, most people never really want to admit they made a mistake in what they are trying to accomplish but there's no reason to be the way that some people are. Or maybe that is why they are being they way they are. Who knows, humans are weird, lol

Another thing that I don't really get is why some companies sell stuff that promises a ''instant cycle or no cycle need'' I get that they are in business to make money but why wouldn't you get a customer for life instead of selling them one time and they never buy from you again?? Don't get it. Coming from muti million dollar companies too!

It's funny because I looked back at one of the "posts'' that lead me to write this thread and what do I see, the product that all of these people were defending was not working the way it was supposed to and was a "bad batch'' this coming from a rep from the company, also the person who told me I have no idea what I'm talking about. He probably dosent even have a tank, lol.

Thank you to everyone who has chimed in on this, it makes me feel a lot better about the way people treat someone who is trying to help them and not alone on this topic.

We all know how much time we spend with our tanks, and our wives or husbands do as well. I know mine tells me all the time, lol

So there has been some things that I have noticed lately that is happening over and over again to me. I don't know how to explain the way I feel but it just kind of bothers me, maybe it's just me, maybe not but I would like to hear what everyone else thinks. And let me say this is not happening here, all of R2R is great!

1. One thing that I have noticed lately is that someone asks a question on why their tank is showing certain things on tests and you give them the answer, your told your wrong. Well how do you know if I'm wrong when you obviously don't know the answer if your asking for help....

2. Why are people these days in such a rush to cycle their tanks??? But wait, you can't just put this stuff from a bottle in and add fish the same day???? Which brings me back to #1, I offer help and they totally reject my answer and "that's not why I'm getting ammonia showing up'' ok that's right, you "person" setting up you first tank knows everything.

Sorry if this is more of a rant than a discussion or a question. I love this hobby and all that surrounds it. I don't know everything or ever claim to. I'm just frustrated I guess when people ask for help and you try to help them and they don't want to hear it. I just don't get it at all. Maybe it's me and the way I answer, who knows.. I try and be as polite as possible and not be arrogant at all when formulating an answer to these folks. Has anyone ever been through this sort of thing? I truly love helping people get into this wonderful hobby but lately those "people" make me want to stick to my self and let them fail like I did at first and sometimes still do.

Tony don't get discouraged by bad feed back. If a reefer don't agree with what you are trying to help him with then let it go cause it can only aggravate you. The key to this hobby is " patience patience patience" you can read that in every thread of any succesfull tank. Everyone today want instant gratification. There are many and I mean many good people on this forum and mostly all appriciate the help any one give so don't let a newbe discourage you from helping others.

Thank you. I honestly have no secrets, I chimed in cause I know what happened to me when I was in patient at the biggening. Patience is the no one key, stability is the number two and investing in the right equipment is number three cause without that you can't have stability. I always preach to spend at least 10 min a day and look at your tank and the tank will tell you if everything is ok or not. If something is off don't panic, check every thing and if everything is good then the possibility is you must have changed something that's not doing well in your tank. Create a maintenance schedule and stick by it. Discipline yourself and your tank will flourish.
