Current Sunpod 150w on BC29

Hello R2R,

I currently have a BioCube 29 gallon and looking to get a Current Sunpod 150w MH. I wanted to know what is the best bulb to get? I am going more for color than growth, so would the 20k Radium be fine?

Does anybody recommend the Sunpod 150w or should I purchase a different MH system?

I just sold mine with sunpod and phoenix 14k .Never used a radium 150whqi but the price of the phoenix 14k is hard to beat At $45.00

I had the exact same setup you are asking about. The Sunpod ballast did not agree well with the 150w radium bulb and it was really hit or miss for how long it would last. The problem I had was that the Radium would fire up fine for a few weeks, but after month 3-4 it would no longer stay on and would flicker on and off. I tried 3 different bulbs and had the same issue with all of them. Some would last 1 month while others would go for 4.

If you decide to go with the sunpod, get the phoenix bulb. If you want to try the radium on your system just send me a PM and we can discuss it in more detail.

BTW, the sunpod worked fine overtop the BC29, there was a lot of light in the middle and a some good indirect spots towards the corners for those lower light corals.

Where can I get the Phoenix 14k for $45.00? Also, how was the growth of your corals with that bulb?

Other than the Radium 20k's, have you tried any other bulb's like the Ushio's?

14k phoenix gave out excellent growth on my 29. I tried radium and liked the phoenix more. I also had supplemental t5 blues to go along with it for color.
