We're currently building a 125g fish tank, but I'm sure well be adding some mushrooms, lps's and or leathers.

The tank is 72" long. We really want a lower cost lighting system for this tank, so I'm looking into the
"Current USA Orbit Marine" Aquarium LED Light, 36 to 48-Inch, so I'll need two units.

I see they have a lot of good reviews on Amazon, Dr. Fosters & Smith etc....

How do you owners think about them ?

I'm used to full spectrum lighting, so these white and blue only light's, have me thinking are they enough ?

Is there enough actinic ?

Please share he great, good, bad and ugly.

Don't do it! The led's are too weak. I think they are something like .5 watts ea. no where near enough light output. While they are neat with the ramp controller and lightening effects, they are best left for fowler only. There are some nice full spectrum led units you can buy cheap. The reef radiance lights I hear are nice, reef breeders lights are also good from the reviews I have read. I got sucked into buying one of the orbit units because of all the good reviews it has only to find out it is to weak. I now use it over my QT tank. There are some threads on this forum about the other 2 lights I mentioned.

I have the orbit but it's just for the moonlights and the sunrise sunset feature.I have the reef radiance 165e as my main light. Great light for a good price.

I really did not want to deal with the heat of halides, but did you need a fan or chiller ?

Do they still make it and can you get parts ?

Honestly, what's the good and bad with that system ?

I had to run two fans. The reason I switched to LEDs was because the MH put off so much heat, but that fixture could grow some coral. I honestly don't know about replacement parts because it never needed any. I used it for about 4 years before I switched to Kessils in September.

Close. Just bigger. I only show two of the MHs in this photo, but there are three.

I see sellers on ebay for $169 new.
One used for $50 so far.
Looks like some are giving them away.

I like there nice appearance compared to todays typical box shape, and I still like the growth from halides.
All three lighting's are independently, so at least we can use timers for sunrise and sunset.

But here's the bad-

Heat, heat and more heat.
I do not,....want to use a chiller.
The cost of replacing the bulbs every 6 months.

I agree with the heat problem. If you were closer I'd give you the fixture.

This fixture is massive. I don't have the original box. It has three ballast that are heavy. It takes two people to move it. I have no idea how much it would cost to ship.
