Pretty new to saltwater but currently have 34 tanks 4 are saltwater. It all started with one 5 gallon tank the wife bought for some glow fish. I really didnt like that tank so i bought a 36 bow front to replace it. Then well one turned into 3 then 6 then we added breeding tanks for shrimp and crayfish so now here i am at 34 tanks and waiting for my custom waterbox to be delivered..

I currently have a redsea 170, waterbox 110.4, inovative marine 30 Long, and the wifes 190.5 monster. I really like the wide view of the 30L but because its an AIO the filter and pump chambers take up to much of the display area so i started measuring and taping off my 110.4 to get a size of a tank that i could place in our living room had the wide view of the im30L but had a little more depth and height in the display tank. I ended up ordering a 36wx18dx16h tank waterbox make the process super easy btw. Well fast forward a few weeks my tank is being built and i start looking for lights for a 36 w tank then started googling to get ideas for the aquascape thats when i found out i ordered a custom 40 breeder with a center overflow. Lol yup i feel like a bonehead but its the size and type of tank i wanted.

The sump. I plan on a 20L with (2) 4" filter socks with chambers for a refugium, skimmer, pump, With room for an ato reservoir.

The Stand. Will be built out of furniture grade plywood then stained black. It will be 33" tall with leveling feet to bring the stand up to 34" tall hoping to keep it easy to see while sitting on the couch and while standing in the living room.

lighting. tbt

flow pumps im thinking nero 3 pumps

return pump i have a hydor 1000gph dc pump i plan to use.

aquascape will be marco rock

sand will be fiji pink

pics to come soon

Little update

The tank is up and running beautifully.. I had the aquascape and bio media cooking in my other tank..

So far i have 2 ai prime on it (Not going to keep them)
Two nero 3's for flow.. man these little things have some power
Hydor return pump 1100gph
Hydros X10 controller
Hydros Ato pump
Icecap skimmer
Hygger 300w heater with its own controller (Hydros controller as redundancy )
IM cheato light

Battery backup that will keep hydros, heater, and return pump running for 5 hours (should be enough time for me to get home and start generator)

The sump i was able to include the ATO chamber 2 gallon approx.

skimmer chamber size is perfect , the water level is a bit high i can just print a stand for the skimmer if needed

Two 4" filter socks overkill i know but i have the option if switching one to a media basket or removing the socks all together and use a filter roller.

refugium chamber i didnt make deep enough, i can make the cheato roll but only if i remove the bio media so for now i just flip it over every few days..

Really coming along! Good work, and great job keeping your heater redundant by still utilizing a heater controller...alongside HYDROS.

TIP...make sure you have your heater output "IF Input Unavailable....TURN ON"

This would turn your outlet on in the event something happens to the input (Temp). This allows for HYDROS to say IDK and turn on the outlet, which gives primary control back to the heater controller.
