would adding more bacteria help until I get live plants?
I wouldn't bother. Your cycle seems to be going just fine. You just need the nitrite processing bacteria to catch up with the ammonia processing ones.

I wouldn't get plants or corals yet. Once the cycle stops, the 'algae cycle' begins starting with diatoms that might cover everything (I was cleaning my chaeto ball daily it was a real pain). Check out the article on this site 'ultimate guide to starting a saltwater tank' or name to that effect which is a must read

try increasing your flow.
I bought a wave maker to see what that gets me. Now I have a HOB filter, wave maker and power head. and an air pump. still looking into a skimmer. Might have to make a DIY surface skimmer temporarily until I decide on a skimmer.
