Dark Green Algae (Impossible to scrub off)

Hi Everyone,

I just recently got rid of my green hair algae by doing a back to back dosing of flux. “Lo and Behold” there is this weird dark green algae underneath (see images under blue and white light). I can’t scrub it off with a tooth brush. I have to use a sharp object to scrape it off and I can hardly do that. It forms a thin mat only on my rock work. Long spine urchin and turbos do not touch it. I’m in the process of ordering another round of cheato after it melted do to low nutrients. I would appreciate any help. Cheers

Tank Parameters:
Alkalinity: 8.3 dKH
Nitrate: 0.0 ppm (or as low as the Hanna Checker reads)
Phosphate: 0.8 ppm

Lighting: 8 hours a day with a 30 min ramp up and ramp down on each side.

If you can take the rock out, cleaning it with H2O2 will kill the algae. You can also dose H2O2 into the tank, but this will kill all algae (including chaeto), so be careful. Also, overdosing the tank can hurt livestock.

I would take out and clean as BarretT mentioned. Also rid that aiptasia looking critter on top right.

As X-37b said, this may be green coralline. Better at this point to leave alone and see what/how it develops

I think I will leave it for now but just not as pretty as the pink Coralline if it is. I have already tried the spot treatment on a small patch with H2O2 with little success but forgot to post that above. I’ll keep an eye on it. Thank you for all the advice.

Presuming it is indeed 'green' coralline... it's a precursor to your pink/purple etc corralline. Sort of like... putting primer on something, before you paint it your wanted color.
