Dark Patch on Atlantic Blue Tang

Hey all,

I have this atlantic blue tang with these dark spots that started around his belly and have now begun spreading to the other side and around his eye (see attached pictures). He has been in QT for almost 3 weeks and I first noticed this at about the 1.5 week mark. QT has about 20 nitrates and about 1 ppm of copper.

Any identification, treatment plans and opinions are much appreciated.

Is 1ppm copper a full dose for the brand you are using?
Is the fish eating well and breathing normally?
Lots of times, larger yellow phase blue tangs will start to change color when they are moved to captivity, but I don’t think that’s what is going on here....

I'm using the fritz copper and my LFS recommended to keep the level at 1ppm.

The fish is swimming fine, breathing normally and eating like a cow.

O.K., this coloration isn't the symptom of any common disease, and with no other symptoms to go along with it, it may just be the accelerated color change I mentioned. It could be a bacterial disease. but I don't see the increased mucus and red areas that would typically go with that. I would say just watch it for now.
