I let my GSP spread further than I would have liked. I only need to remove it from my main rock. This cannot be taken out of the tank at this point. Would I be able to cover the area with some aluminum foil to block the light from it? Any other suggestions? I have about a 5"x8" area to be done away with. No other coral will be affected.

Do not put foil in your tank. Try to pull the mat off the rock with your fingers or long tweezers. Sometimes you can remove rather large sections this way.

This is why I asked first. Was just trying to see if there was a way to block the light from that section. Next water change I'll start ripping and tearing.

If your gentle you may be able to peel it off the rock
