Hey everyone,

Recently moved and decided to start my second tank. Decided today I’d make some clean water with my new RODI system however luck wasn’t on my side. BRS 4 canister system came broken... I have attached pictures of the crack at the junction that’s leaking water. The area of concern is to the black tubing to the horizontal filter.

Not a single drop generated from this “brand new” system.

Any suggestions on how to move forward?

How to move forward? Call BRS customer support and send them these images and ask for a replacement RO canister. You bought something and it didn't work as advertised out of the box, they should stand behind their products. I suspect they will take care of you.

I went on their website to do as such. When initiating a return it says since I purchased the product “on sale” it’s not subject to refunds…

I have emailed there support team and waiting to hear back.

Well tell them you don't want a refund, you want a working product.

Send them photos and tell them to send a replacement.

If they argue, chargeback your payment.

It looks like the elbow fitting has cracked.

Appears to not be threaded in completely? Disconnect the black hose and turn the fitting clockwise a rotation?

Did the listing say "as is" by any chance?
Was it "on sale" or "open box"?

I have no doubt BRS will make things right.

Those housings and the threaded elbows have notoriously loose tolerances. It doesn't look cracked to me but rather just possibly needs about a dozen wraps with teflon tape and thread it all of the way in. If that fitting has an oring it may just need to be tightened one more turn, but I've found teflon tape works better.

I may be wrong but it looks as if the elbow with the check valve is on the wastewater outlet (the one that is leaking) and if thats the case it needs go on the product water outlet instead, basically swap the fittings. An easy thing to do especially if the fittings need some teflon tape put on them.

Looks like other have said the fitting is not seated properly. It may just need to be unscrewed and reseated, but it could also be cross threaded. I would try to reseat it with teflon tape and reassess. If its cross threaded it and the canister will need to be replaced.
