I made no changes to my Apex, which controls both my Kessils and T5's, so my tank slept in an hour today and was up an extra hour. Judging by my alkalinity uptake for the day this was not the best decision. Note that my tank's daily uptake is around 2.5 dkh and no other changes have occurred in the last week.

Who out there made better decisions and is incrementally changing their lights to match the clock??? If not, consider checking your alkalinity as you may have decreased uptake for the day which could start a deadly snowball.

I leave mine alone as well. It did mess with me a little this evening during my maintence when my lights started ramping down while I was still cleaning and doing my wc. Ya, I forgot about the time change. :)

I keep mine the same and so does the ocean

The ocean's daily routine might not change but the "time" when I wake up and get home from work has, an hour shift puts my tank dark too early in the evening for me. This spring I will likely do ~5 min daily changes until synced up. It will be interesting to see the difference between a slow shift vs the abrupt change that happened today.

I changed the time last night and this morning it was funny to see all my fish came out an hour before the lights came on lol

Definitely saw my coris wrasse out of the sand before lights on, he has a very tight wake and sleep schedule.

HOW MUCH DOES A FISH’S FEEDING REQUIREMENTS AFFECT YOUR STOCKING DECISIONS?

  • A lot! - I avoid fish that require frequent or specialized feeding

  • Not at all. Feeding demands don’t limit my stocking choices
