Dead or alive?

so this frag lost all color after getting dipped and acclimated to the frag tank. Couple other fragsa are dead with algae growing on them. This one is staying clean and might be growing some. Hard to tell for sure though. What are your thoughts as to if it’s alive or not. Been two weeks like you see it. Slight green color at the base but it’s been like that over a week. Hoping for the best!

Left is alive... mostly. The right is dead... mostly, with little chance to recover but still possible, possibly.

Agree with P-Dub, left is alive. I can see polyps on it. The polyps secrete corallites which cause growth. So where there's polyps, there's hope.

What dips do you use? What is your alk at?

Bayer and alk is right at 8. I am dosing 1 oz. of alk every day by hand for now. Might have to set up a Doser. The coralline in this tank is unreal thick and is probably eating up the alk but the frags are showing signs of growth too. It’s a problem I like to have.

Hmm with strong coralline growth it's odd then that your acros are struggling. Have you by chance done any kind of ICP test?

No fresh water. The corals are frags and are doing fine. I just killed off a couple somehow dipping and acclimating them. What’s left has new growth and great color and polyp extension. The one in question broke when I removed it from the frag plug. It bleached out from that I imagine but it never got covered in junk like the other that died. It’s always remained intact and clean. Hence the question. Thanks guys, appreciate your thoroughness on the subject. Never know what might help.
