Dead Scarlet Hermits?

I ordered some scarlet hermits which arrived today and wasn't sure if they are dead for sure. They didn't really have a bad smell to them. I also gave each of their legs taps with tweezers and they didn't retract at all. I also don't see any movement at all from them.

Is it possible they just need some time in the tank?

It is possible. Acclimate them and see what happens. Snails sometimes take a week to come out.
