one of my xl turbo snails just died and he was instantly swarmed by my nassarius snails and hermits and scavenged pretty quickly, i let them scavenge and absorb the nutrients abour 2 hours later they are still hermits picking around the operculum and shell, when/should
i remove them to avoid any water fouling?

^ Tank is 75 gallons and 4 months old with a cleanup crew consisting of nassarius, turbo, trochus, astrea, and bumblee snails. as well as plenty of red leg, blue leg , halloween, and blue leg dwarf hermits, fighting conch 2 small brittle stars

It would take much more for ammonia spike. Before I did away systems, had a powder pass that was about 3” long. Two-three days later it was fully consumed. No ammonia spike at all. Do you have corals? Ammonia is coral food. Not saying high levels… 1ppm and the likes of something more. But corals do use ammonia being it’s easier to break down than nitrate.

Randy has a whole write up here on this forum. About ammonia dosing. So if you have corals, and cuc you’re good to go.

got two euphylia, 1 goni, 5 fuzzy mushrooms, and bunch of xenia, zoas, palis and gsp.
