Hey guys, I just booked a trip for the wife and I the first week of December. I’ve always wanted to see NYC at Christmas. We’d like to stay around Times Square but the hotel rates are pretty high. If it comes down to it we will pay a premium price but just checking others suggestion. TIA

Anything in the city is going to be expensive. A cheap hotel is $250 and up per night. But now you wish to stay in Times Square!!!! Mucho $$$

If it were me, coming from out of town, I'd just expect to go big....a one time only visit. I'd consider The Plaza (where Kevin stayed in Home Alone), but now you're talking $1000 and up.

If you want economy, pick a hotel in New Jersey, close to a train station, and commute into the city. Now we're down to $100-$150 per.

And actually Times Square isn't the place to be at Christmas....we always hit the Rockefeller Center area for the tree, skating, Macy's, etc.

Thanks, we’re looking to spend around 400 per night. How far is Rockefeller from Times Square?

Never mind, I see that it’s .5 mile. Would the hotels be cheaper there u think? Also, I appreciate the tips.

Be sure to check out Rolf's Bar & Restaurant on 3rd ave. in the Gramercy Park section. If your looking for Christmas decorations this place goes all out. It gets crowded around Christmas time (what place doesn't), it's very festive and a nice place to stop by for a drink. Google it and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Hotels in the area can be had for about 450 a night during the first week if you book out sooner then later. Check out LUMA Hotel Times Square, my friend stayed there and had a decent experience and price point. Don't forget to look at sites like booking.com, they can help a lot as lots of them have no cancellation fees and such.
