just curious, would the egg crate and tiles trap leftover food ?

Why acid wash rocks? And what do the plates on the bottom of your tank do?

It will hold some detritus, and it will get caught in the seams but the tile should cover the eggcrate. Trial and error for my first bare bottom tank.
Just need to clean the crap up during waterchanges.

Acid washing the rock removes the first few layers, so phosphates trapped inside dont get realeasd into the water. It also removes any kind of hitch hikers on the rocks. Nice clean start
The tiles are for a bare bottom tank. No sand. Eventually would like the bottom covered in coral

I am getting ready (in 4 or 5 months) to move. I am lucky that I can start my new smaller [emoji13] tank now so it cycles and then I can slowly move you corals over. Here's the list of what I have already. Tank and stand, sump, skimmer, return pump, and ATO. All I need now is lights.

However, I need to remove this large wall mirror first.

Should be a fun build. It's been 15 years since I was able to build a new tank. Lots of thing have changed in 15 years.

Where did you get the tank? LFS? I am thinking about getting a tank from glass cages but am looking at other options also.

What size conduit did you use? I did 3/4, works great. Clean setup and easy to maintain.
