its very subjective my fav is 78

remember how back in the day under vho lighting, when the bulbs hit 8 mos everybody's tank would start showing cyano patches, in otherwise perfect / no issue settings before the bulb spec shift?
temp is a little inducer like that. having super warm temps wont necessarily kill your tank, but matted invader work increases with higher temps in reefing for sure, if you're prone. 78 for me is nice sweet spot coral health, metabolism support, and invader control to a small degree. increasing temps above 80-82 would indeed increase the export work you are doing at the current temp/metabolism. this is why we have to be dynamic and meeting changing demands to be always uninvaded in reefing. not everyone has a hands off tank, not everyone has a hands on required tank. he or she who meets the demand as it presents does best long term
