Need help diagnosing this algae? Is this brown hair algae? It's growing inside my rocks, slowly starting to take over my tank. I did a water change not to long ago, maybe I should do a 50% change? My tests come out good. Tank is over 1 year old. Nothing really changed in the tank, hopefully turning my lights off for 2,3 days will get rid of it.

Ok, have you tested the phosphates at any time?

Are you using rodi water?

Myself , I’d scrub the heck out of the rocks ,with extra floss , do a water change the next day and change the floss out to start.

Add some bacteria, like dr Tim’s or bio spira.

I use RO all the time, I don't have a phosphate tester. My local shop told me to order Vibrant.

Ro or rodi.

Vibrant is fine , understand it will have some side effects. Cyano being the first most common one.

Fluconazole is another option.
But I do also think both treatments fair better with some Elbow grease.

I pickup RO from my lfs. I'm pretty sure its just RO not RODI.

You’re welcome!

I’m a pretty simple toothbrush in the tank kinda guy.

It’s possible there’s no3 and Po4 in there. But also the bio filter isn’t up to speed yet. so algae can feed off of the n p as well as the ammoina the fish are putting out.

I did find out that my LFS is RO only. TDS meter is 0. When I received my phosphate test kit it read .05. I'm doing a 30% water change, I'll post back later with phosphate results.
