Hey everyone, I just recently got a diamond goby for my 30 gallon. He made a burrow for the first day or 2 and go used to it, I could see him in the 2 spots he made, he has since made more spots but I haven’t seen any sights of him in a day and a half, should I be worried now? How long before I should be worried because I haven’t seen him even when i put food near the entrances.

They tend to do that lol. There are some people that have had them go missing for weeks & then they just randomly appear a week or two later. Just monitor the ammonia in the tank. Mine has 17 different burrows and loves to change where he sleeps daily.

Okay I just wanted to make sure, I have a 30 gallon tank and can see almost every corner and crevice which Is why I was just worried, he must be all the way under the rock just chillin. I tested ammonia and it was 0, I will continue to monitor

Unless the tank has been set up for 3-6 months I would still feed a little near the tunnels. They sometimes will feed at night if they are shy initially just to make sure it does not starve.

I will continue to do that, it’s just hard because my cleaner shrimp usually ends up getting as much of it as he can near the burrow, I thought the goby would kinda push him away, but that doesent seem to be the case just yet.

I sometimes take pellets or frozen and actually just use a long pipette and shoot some food under the sand since if he sifts it he will find it usually and it prevents my other guys from eating it before him.

They like to jump out. Found mine several feet from its quarantine tank. Was in there for a month and decided it didn’t like water anymore.

You can try and spot feed sinking pellets when you see him or shoot them near his burrow
