Digital water testing

There are really expensive water monitoring systems like Hydros and Maven out there, that constantly monitor certain parameters and macro elements in an aquarium. For most, Hanna Checkers (digital) for Alkalinity, Nitrate, Calcium and Phosphate are the natural upgrade from standard test kits.

Once the aquarium is stabilized, assuming adequate biological filtration, rock and sand etc and the pH stability provided, ammonia, nitrite and ph tests become obsolete. Salinity can be maintained with a hydrometer, but there is a Hanna Checker for salinity as well.
