DINO M Users???

Hi. I did. It wasn’t as potent as their prior product, but it did still impact some of my more sensitive corals.

I used it after first trying a tank blackout and then the Dr Tim’s method didn’t eliminate everything and the Dino came back.

It works, but if you have sensitive corals you don’t want to lose I would try to remove it or take a frag to regrow it just in case.

Some Acro, a high end chalice, and some a stylo. Started with bleaching and ended with full tissue loss. The Acro and stylo were somewhat random. It didn’t impact all of them, just some.

I really appreciate your insight! I do have some acros, stylos, and chalice corals. I am SO torn on whether I want to actually try this. My Dino problem isn't terrible and better after a Dr. Tims cycle but I just can't seem to shake them. I really love the idea of this product and it would be a fantastic tool if it works and doesn't kill anything.

I have all of my nutrients in check, UV, copepods, etc. This is literally the only thing I have not tried, and honestly because it makes me nervous lol!

I can’t say 100% it was the Dino M. It could be the result of a series of treatments because like you, I couldn’t get rid of them in one of my tanks. I had used Dino X one time and it wiped out over half my coral. So Dino M was the last resort for me even though it says it’s not as harsh as Dino X.

So I tried a couple other routes first, so some of my corals were probably stressed and responded more strongly to the Dino M treatment.

Just to offer a second opinion:

I've used Dino X and Dino M once, as a test. In my system, dinos are quite easy to trigger and remove simply by controlling nutrient dosing. Stopping the dosing makes them pop up in low numbers, and starting it again makes them disappear. So I'd say I live in harmony with them.

The treatment was more of a test than anything else. It removed the existing cells after the second dose without much trouble. My corals were unhappy before the treatment, likely due to the low nutrient levels that I had not dialed in properly at the time causing 0.00ppm PO₄, but the treatment didn't make this worse. In my tank, Anemones, Caulastrea, Stylophora, Acropora, Montipora, and others were not negatively affected during the short treatment, but I could imagine this would change when treating for prolonged time. However, dinos are already a reason for corals to be unhappy (or at least many environments in which dinos thrive are). So it is really difficult to tell if the treatment, or the dinos are causing corals to be unhappy.
