Dipping snails and hermits.

I was wondering if anyone knows or uses a good method to assure pests don't hitchhike in on new CUC members. A brief search didn't turn up much. It seems most people just acclimate them and add them to the tank.

I personally dip EVERYTHING in flatworm exit. Snails, hermits, corals, fish, anemones... everything. I'm just wondering if there is something safe and more effective.

In my searches, I noticed some people were concerned about ich, but I'm more worried about coral pests. I won't be keeping any ich prone fish. I'm worried about flatworms, nudis, flatworms, pest anemones, red bugs and flatworms. Oh, and acropora eating flatworms. I definitely don't ever want those.

I QT all incoming "wet" inverts, fish, corals, macros, etc.
For snails and other CUC, they get a rinse, rinse, rinse and then 76 days in QT without any other lifeforms. Mostly looking to starve out Ich and observe for anything else that came along as a "hitchhiker" on the hard shells.

+1 to above to qt anything wet...and also would look into a dip such as coral rx or bayer...fw exit will only erradicate fw and not other unwanteds.

I only dip in fresh water, but my whole fish collection is only $450

I'll be using something like Bayer for corals, but that would kill snails and hermits.

Same here. That's why I'm not too concerned with fish disease, and instead am focused on coral pests.

I just tried hydrogen peroxide to kill algae on the snails. Ill let you know how it works.
