Im thinking of doing a small or nano fresh water/ planted aquarium. I know nothing about them and they look complicated. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Depends on what type of plants you plan on keeping. Do you plan on going low tech or high tech? A lot of the same issues can arise compared to marine tanks. You still have to worry about the quality of lighting, substrate, additives, Co2, etc. Here are a couple of pictures of my now removed planted tank.......still can be difficult, just in a different way.

I want low tech. No co2 3 0r 4 gallon. I like the bonsai type trees with the Java moss and maybe some shrimp.
