Disapearing hermit crabs.

So I have had 3 hermit crabs in my tank for the past couple months. All of the sudden I look and see that I have empty shells. At the same time I notice this stuff on the bottom of the tank. Did they die off or could my emerald crabs have eaten them? I have only one left out of the 3. I ask about the emerald because i have seen one of them on top of the existing hermit a bunch of times. Oh I also did have a bunch of slightly larger shells for growth also but everything but the one that I have left is empty.

What's your fish stocking? They could be starving or being eaten.

I have 2 clowns a blue damsel and a purple fire fish. Nothing I would have thought would eat them. All of this is in a 32 gal biocube.

I would agree with you that the fish wouldn't eat the crabs. How is your feeding schedule? They could just be starving.

Feeding a decent amount in the evening. The fish are fast to clean a lot up maybe I should feed a bit more.

That would be my guess. They could be starving or fighting among theirselves. I try to stick some nori down low for them occasionally.

Another question if I may. Will the emerald crabs eat the Nori also? I have one that seems to be smaller and not very active towards searching for food.
