Getting a Tank replacement from Red Sea through warranty. How have you guys gone about disposing of the old tank? It’s still on the shipping pallet.

I don’t know if I posted this thread in the correct area. Mods please move if need be.

post it up locally for free. Someone may be willing to put the work in and fix it. FB market place, offerup, craigslist all work.

Otherwise I'd duct tape all the panes so I could smack it with a hammer and break it down without a horrible mess. Handling it would still be risky though, for sure.

According to the warranty terms, I’m not allowed to sell or give away the tank. So must be disposed. I don’t want to mess with hammers and glass lol.

Post it on for free stating. “Please dispose of this for me in whatever manner you wish.”
Pull the serial number off of it and it’s no longer a red sea reefer. It’sa pile of glass,

it looks like it was resting on the bulkheads from the way the glass cracked.

If Red Sea are delivering a new tank, they should take away the old one as part of the warranty.

I agree. You're not giving it away, your having someone else dispose of it for you. If someone else keeps it to fix it instead of disposing of it, it's on them.

Just post it saying that you're not allowed to sell or give it away, but if someone wants to take it away for free to help you dispose of it in a manner they see most suitable, well that's on them at that point.

Leave it at side at the end of your drive way waiting for the time to haul it to the dump until it's stolen?

I would just dump it in the large dumpster at my work place. Same place all my co-workers dump their useless crap.

Off topic; I'm a little surprised the bottom of that tank isn't tempered.

So my trash company wouldn’t dispose of it due to it being to large of an item. Ended up calling 1-800-got-junk and paid 120 to dispose of it. In other news, the replacement tank came in. It’s also cracked in the same manner…. Just my kind of luck lol

I would of put it on offer up. Got rid of a old 135g tank with a bad seal that way, posted it up for free and that was that. The reefer that picked it up, resealed it and its in service apparently.

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
