DIY 40 Breeder Sump

Hey everyone I am getting ready to build a new sump for my 75g tank. I picked up a 40 Breeder and I have some red 1/4 acrylic that I want to use for the baffles. I have never messed with acrylic much so I’m looking for some guidance in cutting and installing the baffles any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

I also have some of this silicone has anyone used it and is it reed safe

Can’t look at it but ruff the edges to hold better

I used a table saw with a fine tooth blade last time I made my sump, going to do the same for my next one. Just do a test cut to make sure you get a clean cut first

The silicone you want to use needs to specifically made for plastics. HD sells this, but it's not found with the other caulks in the Paint department. You have to go where they sell doors and windows, where they also have acrylic sheets. That's where you'll find this:

I also have a jigsaw blade that is for acrylic and a score knife so I’m going to do the best I can with what I have I am also looking at getting some weld on 4 for the acrylic to acrylic seams the sump in the picture is the design that I’m shooting for

This might be a stupid question but on the baffles that the water goes under how much space schould I leave is 2” to much or schould I go less
