I saw this interesting video today and it got me thinking about trying out some home made activated carbon in my tank. Give the video a watch and see what you think

So I am all for doing DIY, but there are some thing I do not think I would try and this may be one of them. Others are DIY root canal, DIY vasectomy, and DIY bomb disposal. Pretty much most things are still in play. While that is pretty cool, I wonder how effective it would be compared to commercial.

This is quite a bit simpler than a vasectomy and quite a bit safer than bomb disposal ;Dead Of course someone should not even try it if they dont understand how to do it safely or arent comfortable with the process, but that goes for anything in this hobby.

His AC was comparable to commercial AC. Results of the test are at 18:00. Its probably not a huge cost saving but it seems like a good project to keep our minds thinking about our tanks in new ways

Guess it could be helpful in a natural disaster to purify water.

If you have a backyard fire pit it’s even easier.

Get an empty metal paint can, punch a few holes in the lid. Fill with wood chunks, place in burning fire pit, the gases escaping through the holes are flammable and will ignite, once there are no flames coming from the holes, pull the can out and let it cool. Once cool open it up and viola, done, easy peasy, total investment $2, and a pack of hot dogs to eat while processing the wood.

I've bought AC on Ebay before too and am curious which one you referenced. Can you please provide a link? Thanks!
