Finished my DIY algae scrubber today and just wanted to share. I'm going to replace the drains with 1" bulkheads, currently 3/4". I'm gonna build a lid and eventually paint the outside black to reduce light spill. if you have and suggestions I'm all ears lol also ignore the mess, took the pics before cleaning up after finishing the plumbing

I think it looks pretty great! I built a large scrubber one time just like that but without the plexiglass. Just had it hanging there and allowed the water to drip right back into the sump. Worked great, so im sure yours will also!

Awesome work!!

What mesh did you use? #7 knitting mesh was the sweet spot IIRC!

Did you rough the mesh up thoroughly?

Here’s a fun idea for an upgrade from the current zip tie screen hanging solution which makes service a LOT more convenient!

~1/4” sections of the next size up pipe, put a slit in it, rotate to remove screen!

I did rough the screen up with a hole saw and I may do the pvc rings to hold the screen on later just used zipties for now to get it running.
