Anyone know a recipe for DIY amino acids for corals? I know that there are coral supplements that I could buy but I don't want to pay for something that I could make for cheap.

Interesting thread ... In summary from my understanding reading this....
L-Aspartic acid is an amino acid it acts like a carbon source for denitrifying bacteria.
From the other thread linked - the over dose of Bacteriaplankton ended up over consuming the Nitrates and PO4 in the system which starved the corals which backs up the point that 0 ppm of both NO3 or PO4 is not necessarily good. You still need some low levels of both for corals to survive and color.
The jury is still out with regards to Potassium but the latest Red Sea Coral Colors Program adds Potassium, Iodide, Iron, and Trace elements into the reef system.

Definitely a great read even from a few years ago. So much to learn from still though.
