im new so i apologize if i post this in the wrong place.
i plan on building a 24x24x20 tank (preferably rimless)and would like to know what thickness the glass should be as i assume if i was to go rimless it needs to be thicker since there will be no bracing or would it be easier just to use euro bracing.

I'm much more comfortable with a euro braced tank for long term stability.. especially with the way I hang my arm on the rim while aquascaping or cleaning :rolleyes:

However, saying that.. I do have a shallow rimless tank which is 5/8" thick. But then again, this is only 12" deep.

Look at some of the custom builders sites for thickness of what the builder have build.

I just got a tank same size as you describe; rimless 10mm glass.
My plan is to replace the clear silicone with black; long term project as I have some others waiting.
One of those projects is putting together another rimless but this one is 12mm glass.

No expert here but Red Sea uses 1/2" on there reefer series right up to the 425. At more than twice the size of volume you're looking at so I'd say 10-12mm glass would be more than enough thickness wise.

1/2 inch is plenty. I had a 48x30x20 rimless that was 3/8. Used mp40s and had some nice waves going no issue

Hi guys thanks for all the replys.
If i was to use euro bracing could I afford to go 8-10 mm or is that pushing it and how wide should the strip for the euro brace be. From what ive read 2-4’’ but i cant exactly find what would suit my tank plans
