DIY Display Refugium

I’m thinking super simple display refugium. Pump water from DT to fuge that’s located next to and slightly above DT w water flowing back into DT.

Only issue is this: fuge tank has to be cut to control where it overflows from and I’d have to come up w some kind of bridge to guide water to DT. Any tips would be much appreciated. See pathetic drawing below

I absolutely do not want to rely on a pump to return water to DT.

bulkhead and pipes will work well and give yourself a few emergency drains.... another idea would be dremel a few inches out of the side of the fuge tank a couple pieces of glass cut from the glass shop in a design like a hang on the back filter....
maybe im misunderstanding about the no pump but pod wise you would be pushing water up and it would flow back couldnt be any safer what you take out pours back in equally...

Hmmm where would the emergency drains lead to?
My no pump rule applies only to water being returned to DT. In case pump stops working, no flood issues. That’s why I want water returning to DT via overflow. Make sense?
 
Similar setup as your display tank as far as pumping water into the fuge via return pump from sump. Create sort of a ramp for water to flow back in the display where if the flow into the fuge stops, only a small amount of water will flow in dt before it stops...

I’ve got that part figured out. So
Ole pump. I’m just trying to figure out how to create a groove and ramp in the fuge tank as the overflow
 
Hm... I like lostmonkeys idea... cutting a piece on one side where the water will flow and creating teeth for water to flow out without overflowing the fuge. Then you can DIY a little ramp that’s tightly sealed and siliconed in place..

yea it would take much of a ramp at all to do it and most dc return pumps allow water the be pulled instead of pushed i know jabeo have extra plumbing fittings just for that. As for cutting 1 side of the tank i would cut a line only teeth are too much if anything get acrylic to do that. Save the removed piece of glass and reuse it the make a channel to hold the acrylic that away you can slide out the grooved acrylic for cleaning. cutting glass was pretty easy for me just used playdoh to make a lake of water and grabbed the dremel with some diamond cut off wheels from harbor freight pretty cheap there maybe 8 bucks a pack? just watch the heat if looks like its getting hot pour more water on it i cut half way thru the glass as a score mark then punched the rest of the way thru which helped with spreading out the heat, just remember to keep it wet or it will crack.!!!

No problem Im glad to help when I can seems like solutions are the easy part for me it's the finishing things without starting new things lol I'm slowing making progress on my tank tho!!!
