Hi!
I’m kind of new to this hobby, I currently run a 29 gallon tank with a canister filter and a HOB skimmer.

So my question is if it is a good idea to transform a HOB filter to a refugium I’m kind of worried the size might not be enough. And if you think this is a good idea what light do you think works for this?

Thanks a lot!! This forum has helped me several times in this hobby!

A perfectly clear HOB filter is not that common if you want to put macro algae and exterior lights on it. There are chaeto reactors that achieves the same thing, and you don't need one that large for a 29g tank.

My QT has a HOB filter that I gut and filled it with bio cubes for biological filtration rather than the typical mechanical filtration.
