DIY Hood for 93 Cube

Hi everyone, I'm considering making a hood for my 93 cube. I really like the look of the rimless tank but my fiancé doesn't like how much light radiates into the room. Anyone make a hood for this style of tank before? Can't decide the best approach and I'm also considering a floating hood to not negate the rimless look

A suspended canopy would look cool. I simple way would to be, get some wire shelving and band it with wood, and have 1 wire from each corner and hang it.

That's a pretty good idea!

I have a closed canopy and dislike how much light leaks out around the doors so I can sympathize with your fiancé. If you are going to suspend the canopy, it might reduce the excess light to make sure that the top is closed.

So it it resting on the tank or does the wall support the weight?

The wall supports the weight. It's hinged from the wall when closed there is a stop along the back that the canopy closes against. If the tank weren't there it would basically be free floating.

That's exactly the type of thing I'm thinking about doing. Do you have more pics of the inside, hinges, etc? Also, any advice on how to secure it to the wall?
