DIY Pest Zapper?

Hey have any of you ever heard of a pest zapper. I was talking to some one and he said he new someone that had this little electric probe he put in stuff like aptasias and flipped a switch to electrocute them and they exploded and dissapered. Has any body out here made something like this.

I've heard of them, and I've also heard that they are more harmful than helpful. When you zap that one aptasia, the pieces from it end up spawning others so you end up with more in the end.

Although it's not a DIY, is this what you're referring to? Majano Wand Aiptasia and Majano Eliminator

If so, I haven't had any luck with it. The aptasia recedes back in it's hole before I can zap it. The video's make it look so easy!!!
