Have a question for someone that has some experience building stands I am in the process of upgrading from a 60 gal to a 180 and want to build a stand that suites my need one of them being I want a open front with out a center brace support so I will have a lot of room to access for maintenance is there a build thread for a stand like this ? Or has anyone done this them selfs that can show me how to reinforce or support the weight with out a brace ?

I would say if you wanna go with no center brace you would have to have a type of load bearing beam across the front . Try Google on short load bearing beams . Also look at a product called t-slot . It is aluminum and very easy to build with and strong .

Most of the diy video online go way overboard. Just look at the off the shelf tank stands. The look cheap and flimsy but will hold a tank for years with no issues. It just needs to be right. This was a stand I built for 100g it was made with 1x3's.

not going to comment on your 180 as I never built a stand for one. But to build one without center brace shouldn't be an issue

This stand design will work for a 180 with no center brace. The top boards need to be 2x6's. All the rest, 2x4's.

Oceanic stopped doing the big tanks in 2011-2012. They only do biocube stuff now. Might be hard to find info on your tank....but it is a quality tank.
