I am setting up a 60g Marineland rimless tank and I built a diy stand for the project. I want to know what do you guys put between stand and the tank? Can is use the insulation foam from Home Depot?

Ive built many stands before. Made them out of 2x4. I used to place a sheet of plywood down and have the tank sit on that but now I make the stand exactly the same size as the tank so I just let it sit on the 2x4 and make a nice trim. Let me go take a pic of what mine looks ljke

Yes, I use the blue foam board from Lowe’s, it will fill any voids under the tank and compress evenly.

Looks nice, if the tank sits on a frame I have always been told just sit it on the ply, if its a flat bottom tank then you put the foam, it all depends on the tank construction.

The answer is.......it depends. Will your tank have a bottom plastic trim or will it be 100% rimless? If truly rimless, do the sides sit on top of the bottom or is the bottom "floating" between the four sides?

If there is plastic trim - it doesn't matter but I would suggest that it should sit directly on the top of the stand. A solid top to the stand is not needed, but I like it anyway to keep the sump area dark. Most tanks with bottom trim have a floating bottom panel. There is a chance that the foam could compress enough to push up on the bottom panel and cause the seam to fail.

If the sides rest on top of the bottom panel then a thin sheet of dense foam (1/4" is usually plenty) should rest between the bottom and the solid top of the stand. In this case you should have a solid top to give support to the entire bottom.

This is for a different tank, I am building this for a 93g marine land cube.
Can I attach the legs like this using Kregs screws?

Yes but no... that front beam is only being supported by the screws since the vertical 2x is not under it so I wouldn't

The picture is sorta misleading. The wood where the pocket hole is drilled is just a scrap piece.
Here is the finished frame.
