I'm a canon T6s user, have a 60mm macro lens, and a higher end EF 100-400mm IS II USM lens.

Even on a solid tripod I'm not getting good focus on most subjects. All flow is off too btw.

Curious on any ideas of why. Most pics come out like this:

Are you using AF or manual FOCUS. I tried using an older nikon dslr and struggled. The glass on the tank really effects the focus IME. The lense has be at the perfect angle to the glass or I would miss focus. I found auto focus pretty useless but it could have been the camera.

Thx, I looked and failed, but I was sure there'd be a forum here for this!

Oh yeah, a lot of members here are EXCELLENT photographers, some professionals I believe too.

One thing if shooting through the glass is to take a photo 90 degrees or straight at the subject. Any angle blurs the photo.

AF, I've tried manual and it gets worse, but my eyes suck at this point.

Perpendicular helped a great deal.

Same pic, square instead of top down at an angle... much better. Now I need to learn how to color correct it.

Make sure to adjust your white balance properly and have good lighting in your room to compensate for a potentially faster shutter speed. You can always touch up the color in Lightroom or Photoshop (I use luminar). Keep in mind that you run the risk of black bars appearing across your photo if your shutter speed is too fast when taking pictures that contain an LED.
