Do hammer corals close at night?

Yep, totally normal. Hammers are going beddy-by.

They shrink dramatically every night, and it takes a bit for them to full extend.

Yes, normally, some corals do unspecified things at night they do different things, depending on their moves, my Australian hammer coral totally can see only the skeletons and my bubble coral thought it was dying but when I woke up I saw different much more beautiful. Don't be worried about everything it's cool., you have to be worried about it if when daylight your coral doesn't move and didn't show their tentacles and nematocyst (sting cells) or the body is not moving meaning something wrong with your WATER. I hope this helps my opinion.
