Do Hammer corals grow in height?

I just recently fragged my hammer but now its so short the ends of the Hammer is touching rock , was curious if it will grow back some height overtime so it stops touching rock

It depends on what kind you have…assuming they are branching, yes, because as it calcifies with new branches they will grow higher. In other words, elongating as the branches grow. But, that doesn’t mean they will get your full height and that will be partially dependent on how you fragged it and how the new branches grow. And growth can take a while so don’t give up hope.

My limited experience is they tend to spread more than grow up in height.... but clearly mine have branches that are a couple inches long, if one were to frag one close to the head, I assume if it did not die it would grow upwards for a bit.
