I just ordered a Aquatic Life T5 hybrid fixture which will hang about 8 inches over my house thermostat. Does anyone know if the heat generated below the light fixture will throw off the thermostat?

I'm thinking it might. I have t-5 fixtures, above 2 of my tanks, that throw a lot of heat which results in faster evaporation. (No lids) Maybe give it a test run for a few days and monitor it. Might be lucky and not have to move it.

Thanks. I was hoping most of the heat would go up and not down towards the tank and thermostat.

It might. You may just need to run it sightly warmer to compensate for this. The biggest thing you need to worry about is salt creep.Speaking from it experience as it will get inside the unit.Find a way to cover the thermostat or the tank well.

A solution. Maybe a nest thermostate or other newer model. Then you can get the temp sensors that u place in a different room and it links to it so it uses the sensor temp. Not the thermo temp..
Great idea! Thank you.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
