I fed my micromussa earlier today and wondered if they were able to pass nutrients from one head to another after being fed? For example not every head might be getting food, do they only rely on their zooxanthellae then?

I would say yes from what I have seen. If I target feed a colony and only half catch food, the whole colony normally puffs up. Connected head colonies grow more heads and spread faster than single heads for me. I attribute that to a shared energy of the whole colony.

They dyed food radioctively(I think), like they do medically testing on people and found they do transfer the nutrients to the rest of the colony especially if it was damaged. I cant remember where I seen this though for providing more of a scientific discussion than Im capable of. lol
