I can’t tell if my corals are happy or not. I bought everything from one person about a week ago and this is the best it’s looked. Literally took everything out of his tank and put it into mine including the water and filter media. I think the corals look ok but I’m not really sure these torches are always acting up. For some reason they always look like ramen noodles. (See pics)

I’m dosing all for reef 5ml per day and I also added 10ml/gallon in my ato resivoir. That’s what the pervious owner was doing so I just continued it.

I also have brightwell magnesion on the way bc my mag is a little low.

Any advice is appreciated

Alk: 10.9

Magnesium: 1230
Phosphate: 0.25
Nitrate: 10

Salinity: 1.026

Lighting: kessil a360we

I just got this light yesterday, for the past week I’ve had a 20w Amazon light on it.

What height above the tank and what power % do you guys think I should run this light? Right now it’s about 8 inches above the tank and about 50% intensity.

Also should I run white lights or just blue? Right now I have color turned to 100% blue and 50% power I just like the look of the tuna blue. (I turned it to 100% white to take the pics)

Thanks everyone!

Looks good!

Passes the eye test.

The acro (looks like a tort?) often times look brown in 100 white light.

It seems to have some PE so I’d say it’s doing fine.

Notice the light's projection on the adjacent wall. You can use that for centering and height adjustment.

The upside down "V" on the wall should be centered (front to back) a few inches inside the tank – not right at the tank edges and not hanging over the edges outside the tank.

Usually a few inches off the tank ends up being the most ideal, but it does depend on the exact install.

IMO, start with those as guidelines...fine tune the placement from there, if needed.

I could be wrong, but I think Kessil have made it so you can't doof up your light's color and harm your corals....worst you can do is make it ugly, and that's subjective. For me, I keep the decorator channels off when possible (eg red, green, purple, etc) and just use the primaries (eg whites, blues). Definitely nice to crank up the white for photos though! Make it look how you like it!! :)
