I was listening to a episode of ReefDudes when Adam from Frag Garage brought up the idea of messing with lower intensity lighting on different days.

This got me thinking that if Mother Nature is never going to allow the SAME amount of lighting EVERY SINGLE day, for the SAME amount of time - then why do we do it?

I know some lights have the ability for random cloud cover, so I was wondering if anyone has messed around with this idea and what were your results?

Some issues off the top of my head would be stability with alkalinity and PH due to lower periods of lighting throughout the day, but would it really affect it that much?

I can’t speak on others but my settings raise and fall throughout the day and ramp up and ramp down. But it is the same schedule every day. I just don’t know the benefits from running them lets say 20% lower randomly throughout the week
