Do you run sand bottom or bare bottom? Do you like it or do you wish you had gone the other way?

I run a sand bed, usually around 3-4". I'll never probably do a bare bottom. They have their own issues but I just overall don't like the LOOK of a bare bottom. There's not enough "shimmer" and contrast for my tastes. Livestock always seems "happier" on a sand as opposed to bare bottom. Adam from BRS even says this on his 360.

I always use sand. I prefer the way that it looks, and one of my favorite fish is a melanurus wrasse that needs the sand to sleep in.

Think those of us with live rock will tend to check more frequently than those with dry rock. Never know what surprise you will find with live rock and lotsa critters come out after lights out. That's the great thing about it.

I think you may have posted this on the wrong thread?

But just for the record. I also run sand. Looks more natural and gives you more opps for critter diversity.
