Hello, this morning when I had looking into my tank I saw my clownfish have very tiny white spots on its skin and I wanted to know if this was ich? And I had this clownfish for a couple of months now.
Sorry, but from what I can see, yes, this this fish has the start of a case of marine ich, Cryptocaryon. It is rare for fish to just show up with ich after two months, but not unheard of. Without treatment, it will get worse and eventually, the fish will die. Other fish in the same tank will also be at risk.
The standard treatment is to move all of the fish to a treatment tank and dose with copper for 30 days. Then, you need to leave your main tank with no fish in it for 45 to 76 days before moving them back. The 45 day time frame only works if you can raise the tank temperature to 81 degrees. If not, you'll need to leave it fishless for longer in order to ensure the resting stage of the ich is eliminated.
