If you mix your salt at a higher salinity, to increase the elements in the water too. In fact, many salt brands "lie" about how much they make per a bucket as they choose that number from mixing the salt into water below where we tend to keep our salinity at, and then often show somewhere else on the bucket what the alk, cal, mag is at different salinities. Any reason why you want to do that?

I just thought instead of trying to raise it without adding anything would be better if it was possible. I'm sitting at 6.5 alk and 1.025 sal

the boosts depends a bit on the alk of the new salt water. If it is 9 dKH then raising the salinity to 35 ppt, sg =1.0264, will boost alk to 7.0 dKH.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
