Does Seachem Clarity raise alkalinity

Can anyone tell me if Seachem Clarity raises alkalinity? I have an algea bloom so i have been adding some clarity, since I started I have noticed my KH rising.

I’m not a fan of secret ingredient products, especially from a company that is challenged by understanding chemistry the way Seachem is, but I don’t have a reason to know that it boosts alkalinity.

Thanks for the reply Randy. I would normally put it down to testing error but my Hanna and KH Director are within their normal difference (about 0.3 dkh).

I am not dosing anything else and every time I add the Clarity the alk jumps, also my PH is has gone up to 8.45

How much does alk rise? It may be a sort of false reading if the polymer they use is something like sodium polyacrylate. It will show on an alk test but is not useful to corals. It may also be that it is an additive of useful alk if they formulated it at high pH.

Ok, that sounds a lot safer than trying to use a polymer of uncertain suitability. :)
