Yes, reefing is our hobby, but that doesn't mean others can enjoy our hard work! Whether you've got your hands in the tank or not, anyone can appreciate the beauty that a home reef can offer. What does your family (or friends) think of your reef? Does any of them like to help you out with taking care of it?

My dad is the one that got me into the hobby, there's been a saltwater tank in the house since I was born, and we've been going to the same LFS since the early 90's so LFS so although he stopped over 10 years ago he still asks questions and enjoys from afar.

My daughter is almost 2 and she loves to go up and point at the fishes and yell fish! Calls larger fish "mommy fish" and small ones "baby fish".

My son is 4 and just wants to play with the water 🤣

Now that is precious 🥰

Friends love it, wife tolerates it, little one doesn't have a choice but to love it for now lol.

So sweet!❤️ I have a little, too! He has the same outfit, except his is footie style instead of onsie style, and it's got yellow stains on it... 💩

We haven't gotten around to setting up the tank since we've moved and little dude arrived, but based on how much he loves SpongeBob, I think he'll be a fan of the tank 🤣

@Minifoot77, has your little one taken any notice of the tank yet?

My wife and my son both love my tanks. They prefer the saltwater one over the freshwater one mainly due to the fish and the corals. The blenny and jawfish have such unique personalities that it's hard to not love to watch them.

My family loves my tank when it's doing well, but they constantly talk trash about it when it's not looking as good as possible lol. If only they understood haha

Sometimes I think my wife secretly enjoys the tank more than I do. On more than a few of my crashes, she has been the one pushing me to keep going with it. She does do some work on our small IM20 - she makes sure her clown, Snowy, gets fed every day, and she'll also scrape the tank and "encourage" me to prune things back.

I really do need to start putting some time into that tank again, the aiptasia are getting out of control. "Getting." Ha.

Just buy 30 berghias and be done with it lol

Kids do, the wife not so much. Friends love it

Berghia are not the cure-all that people like to believe they are. I've added berghia to the tank multiple times. they've never made a dent in the aiptasia population, I think because their eggs get eaten by other things in the tank.

Plus 30 berghia is something like $600 at current prices. That's more than the tank cost (it's just an IM20). At that price I could just buy entirely new rocks from TBS.

I also have four peppermint shrimp and an aiptasia-eating filefish in there. Manual removal is about the only thing that "works", but I only have so much time to murder aiptasia.

I thought my wife was for the most part indifferent regarding my tanks until I told her I wanted to take my display tank down (I’ve lost a lot of fish that I’ve had for a very long time). She was pretty bummed about that. So the 125 will remain. Happy wife, happy life! Lol

My kids could not care less about the tanks.

100%. My wife is the reason it is even here.

My GF loves my fish (Clowns, Royal Gramma and Springer Damsel) but has no interest in the corals. Although my 2 kids, 12 and 14, had a fascination with my previous 120 gallon tank when they were little, I’m sad to say they couldn’t care less about my current nano.

One of my adult daughters spent a long time with my tank during the holidays, and finally trapped a mantis that she now keeps at her home in a 6.5 gallon tank with some hermits. :)

They did when it was up and running!
